Sliding doors are popular space saving door for entry and exit doors, especially for the back yard or in smaller spaces where you don’t want or can’t have protruding doors. Sliders have also earned a reputation as the most versatile and economical door type for access to deck and patio.
FIRST™ aluminium sliding doors offer strength and security with substantial aluminium profiles, and achieve quiet, smooth sliding through the use of a high performance roller system. Also available are multi sliders which open to two-thirds of their width so they are ideal for a wide opening to the outside.
What are sliding doors?
Doors that are mounted on sliding tracks are called sliding doors. They are usually glass, allowing the sunlight in, but saving space as they don’t swing open like a hinged door does so you have nothing protruding out into a walkway.
When to use sliding doors
Sliding doors are especially useful for spaces where having a door swing inwards or outwards would be an inconvenience or cramp the space. Sliding aluminium doors are good where you may want a more panoramic view, such as looking out over the garden or deck. They are quiet, with no risk of slamming in the wind. They allow the light to flood into the house, and have the most area of glass compared to other door options.
Sliding door configurations
Aluminium sliding doors come in a range of horizontal configurations. Our aluminium sliding doors come in single slider (or bi-parting), double slider and multi slider options, the latter giving more of an opening to the outside.
Framing and glazing options
Single, double and even triple glazed glass is available for sliding doors, and door size can be customised to meet your specific requirement. The standard height for a door is 1980mm by 900mm. We offer aluminium sliding doors in NZ as well as ThermalHEART framing, which is thermally separated and has a higher insulation rating, perfect for NZ’s climate.
Colours and finishes available
